Swap safely — commitments we hold ourselves to

Sharing seeds with strangers should feel low-stakes. These are the commitments Seed Mateenforces so a swap stays about plants, not about handing over personal information.

Contact details stay private by default

Your email, phone number, and address are never shown on your profile or listings. Names are optional — you can use a handle. Postal and pickup details only get shared inside an exchange room, and only after both members accept the swap.

Meeting up in person

If you choose an in-person pickup, we suggest arranging it at a public location during the day — a market, a community garden, a café. Do not share your home address unless you have chosen to, and never feel pressured to.

Blocking and reporting

You can block any member from a matching or exchange screen — they will no longer see your listings and cannot start a new conversation with you. You can report a listing, message, or profile if it breaks our community rules. Reports go to a small moderation team.

Moderation is real, not decorative

A moderator reviews reports and takes action — including warnings, restrictions, and removal from the platform for repeat or serious breaches. We publish what constitutes a breach in the community rules.

If something has gone wrong

Use the report button on the listing, message, or profile. If you are in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services first.
